The role:
In the role of Communications Advisor you will develop and implement communication and engagement strategies and activities to support transport infrastructure projects in the North Coast Region. The role provides high level communication services and advice to senior leadership, project management, technical and professional staff on community engagement, stakeholder relationships, issues, and media management.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide communication advice and support in the areas of communication strategy and risk assessment, stakeholder and community engagement, and media and issues management related to transport infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain ongoing key strategic relationships and networks with other government agencies, project partners, contractors, community and interest groups and internal and external clients.
- Plan, develop, implement, and manage key communication activities and events as required.
- Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures.
A successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- Proficiency building and sustaining relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
- Aptitude for adjusting to evolving environments and changing expectations.
- Experience in a strategic communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector.
- Demonstrated capability in community engagement, executive correspondence, public relations, and media.
- While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing would be highly desirable.
- Certification in International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) in Engagement will also be considered favourably.
