Visionary leader to consolidate post-merger gains, evaluate the huge potential for growth held by this Council + apply commercial acumen to take this national organisation onward
- A visible, hands-on role for a proven ‘doer’ to pitch in & succeed
- Tertiary quals required in geospatial or other (see below) + Business Management
- A national role, be located anywhere in Australia, Attractive salary package + super + benefits
This is a unique career-crowning, skills-specific role with unlimited potential.
Operating in an area that touches on every economic sector in Australia, this Council was formed by the merger of two long-established peak bodies with shared interests, goals and purpose.
The resulting enterprise is now poised to consolidate the gains and benefits presented by this fusion. With a firm foundation, stable membership and a solid balance sheet, the new organisation is adroitly positioned to create strong growth in 2025. But this will only be achieved under the guiding hand of a strong decision maker, attuned to the needs of the business who can lead with influence, expertise, empowerment and respect.
Immersive from Day One, this will be an enticingly hands-on, can-do opportunity.
It is unique in its complexities and continuing the development of a melded culture in a distributed workforce is just one of the challengers. Origins of membership and questions of legacy demand recognition. And sundry voices still need to be heard ensuring this Peak Body can move purposefully into the envisioned, single united membership entity that has one voice.
The core business of a professional membership organisation is – of course – to provide exceptional service to all members – both individual and business. This involves providing professional development through webinars, events and training, connecting professionals both nationally and internationally and importantly advocating and influencing for the profession and industry.
So, a detailed understanding of the dynamics and demands of both groups is essential. And these need to be backed by an astute commercial mindset, highly developed skills in advocacy and communication and a driving, solutions-based flexible, futuristic approach to almost everything that comes along.
Experience as an inspiring and unflappable CEO, (perhaps with a large Peak Body), entrepreneurial flair and expertise across GNSS/Positioning, spatial analytics. This could include 3D scanning, earth observation/remote sensing, surveying, hydrography, digital twins, and GIS, or related technologies/disciplines.
Other attributes that will add gloss to your application are great contacts in business and government, powerful advocacy skills, lots of experience working with a Board and ideally AICD credentials.
This is an impressive role.
Big, bold, complex, people-centric and extremely collaborative. A career changer, you might say. It’s clearly not for the faint hearted. But it will be extremely rewarding to a seasoned CEO with strong leadership skills, great commercial acumen and a drive and passion for promoting surveying and geospatial industries at every opportunity.
For your application to work its best, it’s advisable to thoroughly immerse yourself in the position summary before you craft that compelling covering letter. Make sure it tells the story that is uniquely yours, what you will bring to the table and why you are especially drawn to this role.
