Anthony Carrigan

Placement of the Month | May 2024

A skilled executive, Anthony has over 20 years’ experience managing organisations and teams, developing a strategy, and implementing projects and business capability across a number of countries and sectors, the most recent being NGOs.

  • About the role

As the inaugural CEO to join The Little Kings Movement (LKM), the purpose of this role is to rebuild and manage LKM’s community portfolio and ensure continuance of activities while reinvigorating the organisation and meeting the great need for community building for people with disabilities.

LKM has a great history and a great base from which to meet challenges in the post-Covid environment. Hitting a restart button, rebuilding frameworks and re-energising committed volunteers and the business model to ensure sustainability within the current climate of services and into the future. Genuinely building upon history, reputation, and their wonderful culture.

  • About the Organisation

LKM was established in 1967 when a small group of people saw a great need to work, support and interact with cerebral palsy people. Due to popular demand, it wasn’t long before their aim had to be extended to encompass all forms of disabilities.

Today, LKM continues to offer a range of philanthropic supportive services, social engagement opportunities and spiritual guidance to empower people with disabilities and foster community integration and self-determination.

Through their philanthropic activities, LKM also extends financial help to the Australian Marist Brothers in Cambodia by contributing yearly to support people with disabilities and landmine injuries. The Brothers share the same desire as LKM by supporting the spiritual and social needs of all their special friends.

LKM, although based on Catholic beliefs is truly ecumenical and all members and people with disabilities are welcomed and respected for their beliefs.

  • About Anthony

Anthony Carrigan is the epitome of a gentleman and a man of stature and gravitas, tempered by humility and humour (he has offered free grains of salt with this Placement statement!). Quietly spoken, articulate, clearly intelligent, quick on the uptake, super confident and very well-connected, his career has been focused on business change and transformation against a humanitarian background.

In Australia and globally, Anthony’s impressive career as a CEO, executive leader, company secretary, and financial expert has given him a wealth of experience and an extraordinarily wide skillset. His lengthy career has been focused on creating positive change and transformation – often against extraordinary odds. In an understated career summary, Anthony said: “Contributing to positive action has kept me in the development sector and on the road (globally) for nearly 20 years.”

Anthony’s (humanitarian) world view has been shaped by working in Australia, USA, UAE, Tanzania, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Oman, Macedonia, Afghanistan, Haiti, Kenya, Cambodia. India, Indonesia, Nauru, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Malawi and Papua New Guinea.

He has handled all aspects of management from HR, financial management, procurement, governance and reporting and business development. Anthony has served on Boards, managed property portfolios and estimates he has now run approximately one billion in projects with those projects totalling approximately $150 million in any given year.
