Be prepared for the unexpected

With extreme weather conditions beginning to impact areas of Queensland, it’s important that you’re ready to tackle it! Here are some of our top tips for preparing your business.

1. Understand your risk

Queenslanders are impacted by more natural disasters than anyone else in Australia. Being prepared for severe weather is essential.

But Everyone’s disaster risk is different. Some natural disasters such as cyclones, floods, and fires are largely determined by your location. Other hazards such as pandemics and heat waves can happen to anyone at any time. It’s important to know what your business’s individual disaster risks are so that you can be prepared. Being prepared will help reduce the impact of a disaster on your business.

The Queensland Government has some great resources available to help you understand your risk levels. For more information to help you risk assess your business, head to the Queensland Government website.

2. Stay in the know

Enable weather notifications from the Bureau of Meteorology on your phone to keep up to date with weather events as they unfold.

3. Get the support you need

If your business has been directly affected by extreme weather conditions, you may be eligible for government support. To find out more about the support that could be available to your business, visit Services Australia.
