    The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has the overall responsibility for this NFP, while working alongside a dynamic voluntary board with a recently developed and implemented strategic plan.

    Founded in 1957, as a peak organisation, Council on the Ageing  (COTA Queensland) looks to advance the rights, needs, interests, and futures of Queenslanders as we age.

    With values based around respect, diversity, collaboration, integrity and equity, COTA Queensland supports policies and programs that encourage and facilitate the inclusion of older people in all aspects of life.

    With a vision to redefine what it means to be ageing in Queensland, they seek to reposition the ageing population of Queenslanders to one that is exciting and rewarding. Older people make up a significant percentage of our community and this will increase over the next decade, they should be active participants in social and economic life and be valued for the contribution they make to society. Ageing is a time of possibility.

  • About Darren

    An enterprising man, he grew up in northern suburbs of Adelaide it wasn’t until he went to university that he realised the great disparity that exists in society. This realisation sewed a passion in Darren to make a positive difference. With a solid down to earth background, Darren’s 30+devoted years of experience in human services is a testament to this passion.

     

    A strategic transformation specialist with strong change management capacities, Darren is known for his outstanding relationship building and management skills. He has close relationships with the government funders of services and NGOs who may be collaborators or referrers within service delivery. As a CEO, General Manager and Director, Darren says he also held relationships with the service consumers, families and advocates, and members of local communities and interest groups.

    An innovative and opportunistic leader, Darren Young has shown himself to be visionary, entrepreneurial, and opportunistic. With his feet firmly on the ground, he is willing to forge new paths – and has done so many times. A driven professional, he remains strongly motivated to meet community need and improve the lives of others.
