This established natural resource organisation maintains an immense body of historic, natural and scientific knowledge. This is a precious resource that holds valuable keys to better environmental understanding and management for regional communities in this area and beyond.

Already – through an experienced and functional Board – it is working closely with local land managers, community leaders and industry professionals to balance productivity and environmental health in the region. Well reputed, being led by an outstanding new CEO, this organisation is poised to flourish into the future as it builds strategically on its financial stability and sustainability.

Dynamic, tactical – and broadly in consensus regarding the direction of the organisation – the Board is of mixed tenure but stable, multi-skilled, keenly decisive and pro -active in seeking opportunities for growth and development in a collaborative evidence-based setting.

To lead a Board such as this represents an exceptional opportunity …

This is a big, busy, and immersive Board opening for a visible, well connected, experienced and influential Chair with a passion for the environment. But it also brings an underlying promise … the chance to contribute an enduring impact on the future, united in vision and voice.

Ongoing development and engagement with memberships currently held by land managers, community groups, First Nations people, industry groups, developers and others, are all essential to its success. As will be the nurturing and development of new and existing relationships with local, state and federal governments and NRM organisations across Australia. Advocacy and lobbying for lasting change underwritten by meticulous governance and compliance.

What can you bring to this all-important collaboration?

Broad brushed, it’s expected that among the many fine attributes offered by a professionally mature and accomplished Chair, will be a pleasing, convivial personality, persuasive communication, full financial acumen, and a shrewd contemporary appreciation of Australian business. Stretching across local and global economies, this will embrace natural capital, biosecurity, environmental markets, sustainable agriculture and more.

If this role excites you, then we are keen to hear of your leadership accomplishments in engagement and relationship building, advocacy, lobbying (especially government) and public speaking, in commercialising new revenue streams and creating value-added services in a membership organisation.

Calm and capable with natural authority and a high EQ, it’s expected you hold a significant executive place in your field(s) of expertise with substantial experience sitting on (or dealing with) Boards. Former experience as a Chair is highly desirable, as is a familiarity with Queensland country and its people.
